Tara Akshar

TARAAkshar+, an initiative of Development Alternatives (DA) Group, is an innovative ICT based programme which aims to provide functional literacy to adult women in 56 days through Akshar Gyan and TARAGanit, and thereafter through Gyan Chaupali in 6 months, which is a post literacy programme to supplement and promote neo-literacy. The impact of the TARA Akshar project was remarkable and diverse by Swami Vivekanand Shiksha Samiti. The organization have witnessed numerous success stories where individuals who were once illiterate have now actively participated in village administration, initiated their own businesses, and taken on the financial responsibilities of their families. Moreover, their relationships with family and community members have been revitalized, creating a positive shift in dynamics. The acquisition of literacy and financial knowledge has empowered them to break free from dependency on others for daily tasks. They have gained the confidence to handle bank transactions, maintain basic accounts, and understand the significance of investing in their children’s education. Additionally, they are addressing crucial issues that contribute to the betterment of the entire neighbourhood. The following report demonstrates the improvements across various aspects of their lives. Total 16980 of beneficiaries were impacted under this project.
