Swami Vivekanand Shiksha Samiti (SVSS) is a not-for-profit organization registered under the Societies Act in the year 1971. The idea of its existence was conceived by Shri Uma Shankar Srivastava who was inspired by the philosophy of Swami Vivekanand. He envisioned the creation of an organization which could spread the idea of education and uplift the poor masses, especially the women and children
SVSS has worked for the betterment of the community members and has benefited millions of people over the years.
More than 50,000 women have been empowered through various educational and training programs conducted by SVSS.
Over 20,000 school drop-out children were provided with formal schooling through SVSS's efforts.
More than 10,000 youths have been trained by SVSS to acquire employability skills.
SVSS has provided various skill training programs for self-employment to over 20,000 adolescent girls and youths.

Education is one of the basic necessities in life. Identifying its importance, it was categorized as one of the fundamental rights. Aligning with the perspective, education is the focal area of SVSS’s interventions.
This is a grassroots organisation that ensures healthcare and nutrition intervention for women and children in vulnerable communities of Uttar Pradesh.
Agriculture is a dominant occupation of the rural communities which is in crisis due to environment degradation, inappropriate use of technology and non-favourable market forces.
Environmental threat is not a matter of future and it is knocking on the door now. Its expressions are evident in form of climate change, global warming etc.
Landlessness is a key deprivation as 10% of our farmers are landless. Women situation is worse. Though they constitute majority of workforce they only own 9.3 % of land and sometimes they are not even regarded as farmers.
Children’s rights are human rights that are accustomed explicitly to the children needs, wants and overall well-being. They take into account their fragility, specificities and age-appropriate requirements.
Since its inception, SVSS has implemented various projects in its thematic areas of expertise. Some of the projects were self-driven and others are being supported by like minded partners. SVSS work over all these years have benefitted millions of the community members. Some of the highlight is provided below:
IIMPACTs signature program, the Girl Child Education Program (GCEP) currently focuses on establishing IIMPACT Learning Centers across rural India.
This Project was funded by SBI Foundation, Godrej and Development Alternatives. The GAVL-IFPE (Integrated Fishery and Poultry Enterprises) project facilitated the establishment of 631 integrated enterprises, with a focus on identifying
Wash Program is built around building community awareness on importance of water and sanitation. The WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene) initiative has been taken by various countries in order to provide safe drinking water
SVSS believes that solving the complex challenges of development initiatives can best be achieved by working with partners, Government agencies and individuals. The more we expand, the better resources and expertise are found. Our collective action is greater and more impactful than what we can deliver on our own. During all these years of our inception, we have worked with various funding organisations, Government agencies, individual donors and institutions.
They have supported and helped us in reaching what we have achieved today. We are committed to partnerships that are empowering, respectful, and focused on mutual learning and growth.
As the CFO of our NGO, I am proud to witness the impactful transformation our organization has brought to countless lives. Our financial strategies have enabled us to optimize resources, empowering us to reach further and make a profound difference.
